About Sandy Guttman

Seeing myself in a Jose Lerma painting at Kavi Gupta

My name is Sandy and I reside in Chicago. I'm currently a graduate student in the Museum and Exhibitions (MUSE) Program at UIC. This blog is a space for me to share my thoughts on the museum world, what's happening in the arts, and some of my film reviews. I've contributed to Rabbit Hole MagazineSide Dish Mag, the Chicago Ideas Week blog, and Make Space. If you are interested in having me review your film, exhibition, or museum, I may be found at sandyguttman(at)gmail(dot)com.

Q: Why have a blog?
A: I started blogging to have a place to document my photography - but I have been enjoying the evolution of my blog as I grow and change. I've also met a handful of amazing people over the years, and formed some pretty life-changing friendships. For as much work as a blog can be, the payoff is amazing. Not to mention I have nearly a decade of my life archived publicly.

Q: What do you do??
A: I am an art history buff who and currently working towards my masters in Museum and Exhibition Studies at UIC. I care deeply about the museum field, and hope that through question asking, exploration, research, and collaboration, I can have a positive impact and instigate change in the museum industry. I'm also interning with a local photographer and dear friend, Herb Nolan. His silver-gelatin prints are the bees knees.

Q: What are some of your hobbies other than blogging??
A: I like to travel, eat croissants, sing karaoke, track down books at the library, listen to Blossom Dearie and Billie Holiday on my record player, go to the movies, cook, bake, and binge on my latest TV show obsession. I'm also a burgeoning gym rat, and have been working out with a trainer since fall 2013. I have competed in two races in Chicago as well!
